FAQ — Fitbit Google Health reconnect fork
Domain questions for the 2026-11-02+ window. Answers paraphrase official help; re-check vendor pages before you act. This local Pages helper does not upload your files or call vendor APIs.
When did the Fitbit Web API shut off?
Google developers documentation for the Google Health API states that on November 2, 2026 the legacy Fitbit Web API and Fitbit OAuth endpoints were turned off. Requests to those endpoints fail with HTTP 410 Gone. Partner apps must use Google Health reconnection flows instead of the old Fitbit login.
Why do I need to reconnect MyFitnessPal again after Google already asked?
MyFitnessPal’s November 4, 2026 updated article says that even if you already reauthorized with Google, you still need to complete MFP’s own reconnect prompt. The second reconnection is what keeps MFP sync working after the Fitbit API shutdown.
How do I set Primary Step Source to Google Health?
In the MFP app: open More/Profile → Steps and look for a blue checkmark next to Google Health. If it is missing, tap Google Health to select it as Primary Step Source after you reconnect under Apps and Devices.
Why are steps still missing after a successful reconnect?
MFP lists a Known Issue (Investigating): exercise and step data from Google Health into MFP may not sync even after reconnect, while food diary data from MFP into Google Health can still succeed. Treat that as a vendor bug status, not only a missed reconnect.
Does Strava import my old Fitbit history automatically?
Expect forward-only sync after reconnecting Google Health. Historical activities are not automatically backfilled. Export TCX for key past activities and upload them if you need those miles in Strava.
Does this decision fork connect to my Fitbit or Google account?
No. It only builds a local Markdown plan from the options you tick. You perform reconnects inside the official Google Health, MyFitnessPal, or Strava apps. This page is not medical advice and does not call OAuth APIs.
